Goa Emerges as a Talent Hub for Global Tech Companies

Panaji, Apr 02: McLaren Strategic Solutions (MSS) welcomed 20 final-year engineering students from Goa’s top technical institutes into its global workforce during an exclusive interaction session with Shri. Sajan Pillai, Chairman of McLaren Strategic Solutions (MSS) at The Crown, Panaji.
The event was graced by Hon'ble Minister of ITE&C, Shri. Rohan Khaunte, who along with the Chairman handed over the Letter of Intent (LOI) to the students.

Other dignitaries present, included, Smt. Revati Kumar, CEO, Goa Electronics Limited (GEL); Smt. Dimple George, Executive President & Country Head for McLaren; Smt. Shreedevi Roogi, VP Talent; Smt. Sherly Thomas, Workplace Business Partner (GlobalGoa; and Shri. Jarvas Pereira, Director Revenue & Business Development, TradeXProtocol.

Speaking at the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Shri. Rohan Khaunte highlighted the significance of the day as a major achievement for students, their families and the department of ITE&C. He noted, “Talent is abundant among our people, but at times lack of exposure and opportunity forces many to migrate, often at the cost of losing their social and cultural roots. Our main objective is to create opportunities within Goa so that locals can stay, grow and contribute to their community. Collaborating with industry partners like McLaren Strategic Solutions (MSS) is a strong step in this direction.”

During the Q&A session, students engaged with Shri. Sajan Pillai on topics ranging from corporate scaling to company core values. Beyond gaining a clear career roadmap, the interaction allowed students to gain insights on the global tech landscape.

Emphasizing on why he chose Goa, the Chairman remarked, “I believe in identifying regions with untapped potential, places that have educated talent, strong communication skills and a welcoming culture. Goa stood out to me because of its positive environment, quality of life and its natural appeal that makes people want to stay and work here. I was also impressed by the strong support from the local government. This spirit of collaboration and willingness to enable business growth played a key role in my decision.”

The recruitment process began earlier in February, where a MSS panel noted that while Goa is renowned for its tourism, the academic talent in Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies is equally noteworthy. A defining factor for the selected candidates was their practical experience, where nearly all hires had participated in at least three hackathons, showcasing a high level of innovation thriving on Goan campuses.

This year, McLaren Strategic Solutions increased its local hiring to 20 students (up from 15 hires last year) from colleges including Goa College of Engineering, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Agnel Institute of Technology and Design, and Shree Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering and Information Technology. These graduates will officially begin their full-time careers with the firm in August 2026.

By partnering with global leaders like McLaren Strategic Solutions, Goa is rapidly strengthening its IT ecosystem and transforming into a premier technology hub. This collaboration between industry, academia and the government is ensuring local talent remains in the state while working on world-class innovation, further boosting Goa’s reputation as a center for digital excellence.
