Chandigarh, 23rd Feb: SVKM’s NMIMS Chandigarh officially announced the much-awaited fourth edition of its annual Half Marathon at the Chandigarh Press Club. The marathon will be held on Sunday, 8 March 2026 at the NMIMS Chandigarh campus, commemorating International Women’s Day with the powerful theme “Unstoppable Her.”

Dedicated to celebrating women in leadership and the spirit of empowerment, this year’s edition highlights ambition, resilience, courage, and the transformative role of women in shaping modern India. The event is being organised in collaboration with the Chandigarh Administration and will be graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, as the Chief Guest.

The NMIMS Half Marathon 2026 is expected to witness participation from over 1,000 runners across Chandigarh and the Tricity, with three race categories open to both men and women:

• 21.1 KM Half Marathon
• 10 KM Run
• 5 KM Run

Special Journalist Participation Initiative

To reinforce the core philosophy of inclusion and gender equity:

• Free entry for female journalists, along with their spouse or one family member
• Male journalists may participate only if accompanied by their spouse or a female family member

Cash prizes of up to ₹1 lakh will be awarded to winners. Participant safety and comfort will be ensured through:

• Hydration points at 1.5 km, 2.5 km, 6.5 km, and 8 km
• Timing chip mats at start and finish points
• Two fully equipped ambulance vans with nursing staff, physicians, and physiotherapists on-site

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Jyotsna Singh, said: “At NMIMS Chandigarh, the Half Marathon is not just a sporting event but a meaningful annual movement, and every year it is dedicated to a social cause that carries a strong message for society. This year, as we host it on 8th March to mark International Women’s Day, we celebrate the indomitable spirit of Indian women — their leadership, determination, and their growing role in nation-building. ‘Unstoppable Her’ is a tribute to every woman who balances aspirations with responsibilities and continues to break barriers in every sphere. Through this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to inclusivity, empowerment, and creating platforms that inspire social change.”

Over the years, the NMIMS Half Marathon has evolved into a signature annual tradition, bringing together the community for fitness with a purpose. The 2026 edition strongly reinforces the institution’s commitment to women leadership, workplace equality, and inclusive participation, reflecting the progressive aspirations of contemporary India.
