India, 07th November, 2025: Gallerie Nvyaās exhibition āThrough Four Eyesā concluded at the Visual Arts Gallery, Habitat Centre with a special visit from faculty members and students of Jamia Millia Islamia University for a curatorial talk by art scholar and author Uma Nair.

Nairās talk highlighted the importance of composition across mediums and emphasized the power of human observation in all artistic practices. The show, featuring works by Sanjay Bhattacharyya and emerging artist Sanya Ahuja, celebrated the dynamic relationship between a senior artist and a younger talent, reflecting a contemporary guruāshishya parampara.
Ahujaās portraits, ranging from surreal selfies to explorations of light, texture, tone, and human emotion, were praised for their integrity and depth. She shared that she began exploring self-portraits when she grew tired of photographing others. Nair noted Bhattacharyyaās compassionate mentorship, emphasizing his desire to showcase Ahujaās work alongside his own. Students and faculty appreciated Ahujaās sensitive handling of her subjects and her focus on emotional authenticity in art practice.
Opposite Ahujaās works, Bhattacharyyaās still life studies and human portraits, presented as collages and singular prints, drew attention for their meticulous framing by Deepak Ahuja. A standout displayāa vertical wall with an exposed brick line topped with plant leavesāwas cited as an example of Bhattacharyyaās aesthetic mastery, serving as the exhibitionās visual and conceptual anchor.
Dr. Surangini Sharma, Assistant Professor, remarked:
"We attended the talk and exhibition to gain insight from the crisp commentary and learn how to truly observe photography. Such sessions deepen our understanding, helping us become better educators."
As a gesture of appreciation, Sanya Ahuja presented a copy of the exhibition catalogue to Dr. Sharma for the Jamia Millia Islamia University Library. Dr. Chitaranjan Moharana, sculptor and Assistant Professor at JMI, was particularly captivated by Bhattacharyyaās portraits of squirrels and a fragmented image of a denim-clad leg and shoe.
