A Multidisciplinary initiative brings together Physicians, Dieticians, and Endocrinologists to provide structured medical and lifestyle care

Bangalore, Nov 08: Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, has launched ‘Grow Fit’, a specialized multidisciplinary clinic led by Dr Poornima R N, Consultant- Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology, created to help adolescents manage obesity and build healthier futures. Bringing together experts in adolescent health, clinical nutrition, and endocrinology, the clinic provides a supportive, non-judgmental environment where teenagers receive comprehensive medical guidance, personalized lifestyle strategies, and structured long-term support under one roof. The clinic was launched in the presence of Dr. Basavaraja, National President of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics.

The launch addresses a growing public health priority in urban India, where changing daily routines, increased screen time, reduced physical activity, and shifting dietary habits have led to a sharp rise in weight challenges among adolescents. It is critical to include infants and children, as early identification of pediatric obesity is essential for adapting clinical approaches and optimizing health outcomes. By offering early intervention and multi-specialty care, the clinic aims to guide young individuals toward sustainable lifestyle habits before long-term health complications develop.

Operating at the Bannerghatta Unit every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, the clinic provides families with access to a dedicated team comprising an Adolescent Physician, a Dietician, and an Endocrinologist during each session. A defining feature of ‘Grow Fit’ is this unified, cross-specialty framework designed to simplify the care journey. Rather than attending separate consultations across multiple visits, adolescents receive an all-inclusive evaluation covering physical development, nutritional needs, and potential underlying endocrine factors ensuring care plans are tailored to each teenager's physical growth and emotional well-being.

Dr. Poornima R N, Consultant- Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology, said, “What sets the ‘Grow Fit’ clinic apart is our integrated multi-specialty approach in a single visit. By eliminating fragmented consultations, we provide teenagers with a seamless, 360-degree medical and lifestyle evaluation under one roof. This setup directly addresses underlying metabolic and physiological hurdles, helping young individuals regain daily energy, rebuild self-confidence, and prevent long-term conditions like diabetes and hypertension, while empowering families with practical, sustainable guidance."

Highlighting the importance of early intervention and community pediatric health, Dr. G. V. Basavaraja National President of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, added, “Adolescent obesity is rising at an alarming rate across urban India, driven by sedentary lifestyles and changing dietary habits. This rapid increase makes specialized clinics like ‘Grow Fit’ essential, as managing teenage weight is not just about aesthetics, but about preventing lifelong metabolic conditions. By bringing together pediatricians, dieticians, and endocrinologists at one space, the ‘Grow Fit’ clinic directly addresses this crisis by offering early, structured intervention, empowering young people with personalized medical and lifestyle care before these health risks escalate."

With the launch of the ‘Grow Fit’ clinic, Rainbow Children’s Hospital continues to strengthen its commitment to comprehensive pediatric and adolescent healthcare. By bringing expert clinical care, regular accessibility, and holistic family support together, the hospital aims to create a meaningful pathway for young individuals to achieve optimal health and well-being
